RN ICE HOCKEY

The Destroyers stepped on the ice not knowing a great deal about their opponents and largely out numbered. The first period was a hard hitting period from the physically dominant Destroyers who were penalised twice in the first opening minutes, today's captain kieran wilson netted three in the first, Karl sullivan and Paul Nevin also put their names on the score sheet late on in the first, however the scorpions fought back with two well worked gaols. The Destroyers settled in well in the second with team coach kevin cave scoring four and captain kieran wilson adding another two. Again the Destroyers were penalised for several minor penalties. Net minder Liam Armstrong prevented the scorpions scoring with a string of brilliant saves keeping the destroyers lead well preserved including a save from a penalty shot. The third period was a different story for the Destroyers who seemed to fall asleep at the back allowing the scorpions to pull three back. The Destroyers managed to see off the fast forwards of the scorpions with several big hits and some impressive back checking by Adam Lappin. Team captain Kieran Wilson topped off his performance with a final goal sealing victory for the Destroyers.Game ended 12-5 Destroyers
